Advent Devotion – December 19

December 19, 2021

“remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.  But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.” Ephesians 2:12-13 (NIV)

The Hope of Christmas is a hope for all people.  Without Christ the word of God tells us we were without hope and without God in the World.

With the coming of Christ in the manger came Hope.

Hope is not some faint possibility that we reach for.  It’s not some thin thread of which we grasp hold of.  And it’s not the flickering glimmer of a candle about to burn out.  Hope is the confidence and the security that is found in a relationship with Christ.

For this Baby in the manger had come to do that which we could not do.  He has brought those of us who were once far away into personal relationship with God.

And That is HOPE!!!
