Silence is Golden

For this week we will examine the final week of Jesus’ life as Jesus makes His way to Calvary.  A week worth remembering.

Silence is golden.  We’ve all heard the saying.  We may even embrace its truth.  But rarely do we experience it.  As we examine the final week of Jesus’ life, we see commentary on every day.   Every day but one.

In this hectic final week of Jesus’ life, every day seemed to be filled with some important event.  Sunday, the Triumphal Entry; Monday, the Cleansing of the Temple; Tuesday, the debate and teaching in the Temple; Thursday, the Last Supper; Friday, the Crucifixion.

And then there’s Wednesday.  Why, on a week of such importance, was Wednesday ignored?

Maybe there is something important to be discovered in the silence.  Is it possible that the full impact of the life of Christ can only be fully grasped when we fully remove ourselves from the distractions of our lives?  Perhaps there are some things we can only hear when we can’t hear anything else.

Scripture declares, “”Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”“  Psalms 46:10(NIV) The prophet proclaims, “The LORD is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him.”“  Habakkuk 2:20(NIV)

So, take some time to be silent before God.  You might be surprised at what you hear.

Prayer:  Dear God, deafen us to the noise of this world, that we might hear the gentle whisper of your voice.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Passion week Revival through tomorrow night at 7:00 PM

Join us tonight at as we remember the events of Wednesday on the final week as Jesus faces the cross.  Tyler Whitmer will bring our message. Don’t forget to secure Grape Juice and crackers for tomorrow night.

Selfies wanted!

We are putting together a video to celebrate the church.  Please send pictures of your family to Office@pinerbaptist.org

Food Needed

In order to minister further to our Piner Elementary families, we would like to give them an “Easter” dinner box.  If your family is able, we are asking you to collect the following items and deliver to church by Wednesday, April 8, for delivery by the school resource officer:

Easter Box Items:
Ham (donated and purchased by church-no need for you to purchase)
Bag of Potatoes or Box of Mashed Potatoes
3 Cans of Vegetables
Jar of Applesauce
Dinner Rolls
Dessert – we suggest a baked good from the Kroger bakery
Easter Candy for kids

Jody is asking that we put these items in a box or in paper bags for easier delivery.  Kroger is very generous in giving paper bags.

EASTER CARDS NEEDED!

I want to include our children in this project of helping needy families.  Have them make cards that we can include in these bags of groceries, just to let them know that Piner Baptist is praying for them.
