Worth Remembering!

Psalm 13:1–6 (CSB)

How long, Lord? Will you forget me

forever?

How long will you hide your face from me?

How long will I store up anxious concerns within me,

agony in my mind every day?

How long will my enemy dominate me?

Consider me and answer, Lord my God.

Restore brightness to my eyes;

otherwise, I will sleep in death.

My enemy will say, “I have triumphed over him,”

and my foes will rejoice because I am shaken.

But I have trusted in your faithful love;

my heart will rejoice in your deliverance.

I will sing to the Lord

because he has treated me generously.

The man who had faced a giant on the battlefield and defeated him experienced doubt.  The one who had personally witnessed the deliverance of God from the violently jealous hand of Saul felt the loneliness of isolation when surrounded.  The mighty King of Israel who had conquered countless foes in battle, struggled with the fear of defeat.

Doubt, loneliness, and fear are real feelings that even the best of us struggle with at times.  But David teaches us where we find strength in those moments of uncertainty.

When David felt isolated from God, he cried out to God in prayer.  When the shepherd boy felt surrounded by the enemy, David remembered the faithful love that had never failed him in the past.  When the man after God’s own heart feared the certainty of death, the King brightened his view with a song of praise celebrating God’s grace in the past.

As we are encouraged to live isolated lives in a world with an uncertain future, we can find strength in our faith–in the One who has never failed us in the past.  Loved ones may be sick; job security may be uncertain; your retirement may have disappeared.  But God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

The next time you struggle and fear that God has forgotten you,  take some time to remember the God who has always been there for you in the past. Because, you see, the only time we feel forgotten by God…is when we have forgotten Him.

Bring your food for Piner Tomorrow!

Thanks for your continued provision of food to help feed Piner Elementary families during this time.  Bring your items to the church by Wednesday, so that they can be delivered by Friday.  Jody has requested the following items: Canned Soup and Fruit, Spaghetti and Sauce, Mac & Cheese, Boxed Cereal, Peanut Butter & Jelly, and Crackers.  But any items are appropriate.  We are helping the families of the same 25 children who were involved in the food for thought program.

I want to include our children in this project of helping needy families.  Have them make cards that we can include in these bags of groceries, just to let them know that Piner Baptist is praying for them.

Passion Week Services

We will be having special virtual services starting Sunday Night to celebrate the last week of Jesus’ life; join us for this special time of celebrating Jesus’ redemption story! See our web page for a complete schedule.
